INSIGHT

Shortly after launching their new visual identity it became clear to the Aon design team they lacked the available resources to convert the vast volume of existing materials into the new brand. Aon quickly reached out to Creative Circle for assistance, who in turn assembled a remote studio to assist with the brand conversion. The team consisted of several project managers, copywriters, senior designers and senior production designers. I was one of the lead senior designers on the team. In the past, I had worked closely with external production agencies, contract production designers, and even acted as a mentor for a junior designer. While rewarding, these opportunities were rare and the experience I gained was minimal at best. However, as as senior designer on The Aon team, being a design lead on numerous projects was a role I assumed on a daily basis. I learned how to review incoming projects, making sure the design briefs were coherent and complete. Additionally, I learned how to help manage eight senior production designers, making sure everyone was constantly adhering to brand standards, staying motivated and producing excellent work. Lastly and more importantly, I learned how to formulate and present clear and constructive feedback and in the process not only elevate the work but grow personally as a designer.
